Choosing the perfect wardrobe for your senior portraits is very exciting and does not have to be hard. Your goal is to find outfits that will stand the test of time. You can browse and shop for outfits by clicking HERE. Let me make some recommendations:
Solid colors are timeless and never go out of style. They are fitting for everyone and every age, therefore I always recommend solids for all my session categories. Choose colors that compliment your skin tone, eyes and hair. Avoid busy patterns because they are distracting. Feel free to add a solid top to a patterned bottom or vice versa. Adding some patterns can add interest to your photos or help tell a story, as long as it’s not over done.
This may seem a bit obvious but you want to make sure you are dressed appropriately for the season. Wearing a sweater in warm weather does not match the scene.
I am a big fan of adding accessories as long as they are complimenting your outfit and not taking away from it. Try adding a hat, jacket, your favorite shoes, simple earrings, necklace or scarf. Another way to accessorize is adding your favorite props such as a car, horse, sports equipment or hobby accessories.
You want to think about the location you will be photographed in. If your outfit is consisted of a crop top and shorts you may want the location to display a summer scene.
It’s important that you feel comfortable and confident in what you’re wearing. When you feel confident in your overall look it shows! Your portraits will turn out amazing if you feel amazing! Make sure you stick with a wardrobe that reflects who you are as an individual.
